Great Year!

Thank you to all the teachers, principals, parents, and students for making this a great year in 5th Grade Band!

We're looking forward to working with many of you in band at Page! If you haven't signed up to include BAND as part of your 6th grade schedule, it's never too late. Mrs. Garvey's classroom is right by the exit you'll take every day to leave school next year, just stop by and see her if you ever think you might want to come back to band.

Watch this space for information on the 2014-15 5th Grade Band, to begin in September!

While we're closing out the 2013-2014 school year, preparations are actively being made for the upcoming marching season.

Minicamp #1 takes place Monday and Tuesday, June 16 and 17, from 8am to 4:30pm. ALL percussionists and color guard members are to report for the full time both days, as well as wind and brass "rookies." Veteran wind and brass members have the first Monday morning off, and are to report for sectionals at 1:00pm. We are still accepting "walk-ons" - so bring a friend who you think will enjoy being in this great group!

Band Camp Family Events (7/29/14)

Attention Marching Band Families:

Band Camp 2014 is quickly approaching and we wanted to make sure you are aware of some of the fun events we have planned for the parents and families of our Marching Band Members.  One of the advantages of holding band camp at Lamphere is that we can do events like these to bring our band families together.

On Saturday, August 9, 2014 we will be streaming the finals of the Drum Corps International Championships LIVE in the Lamphere Auditorium.  Marching band students are encouraged to attend as well as their parents and siblings.  This will be a fun way to kick off the week of band camp and also give our students a chance to cheer for a few of their instructors that will be marching in the competition.  Band Boosters will supply pizza, beverages and snacks for the event.  Students will be expected to remain at the event until they go home, we will not allow students to leave and return to the building.  All we are asking is for families to fill out the form so we can get a head count.

During the week of camp we encourage parents to stop in the cafeteria in the morning to grab a cup of coffee and meet some of the other parents.  We also invite you to stop by the field at the foot of Lamphere Hill at 7:45 each night to see what the students have learned as they normally do a final run through each night.  It is a great way to see how they progress over the week.

On Friday, August 15, we invite the families of the marching band students to join us for a pot luck dinner and then enjoy a performance by the marching band.  We have created a signup genius page to help track the number of people attending and also what dishes you are planning to bring so we have a good balance.  Please follow the link and sign up for this event.

Please also note that we will be holding the first Band Booster meeting of the season on Tuesday, August 12 at 7:00 PM in the Lamphere Cafeteria.

We hope you will be able to join us during the week of camp and have some fun with the marching band.
